Just checking in...

Oh hey! Apologies for the blank space between posts this past month, it has been such a busy one! Not for any reason in particular, time just seems to be escaping me! I'm only now just settling down to take a breather and check back in with the world. (AKA - scroll through my bloglovin' and Twitter feeds) So, this months lifestyle favourites are on the back burner as I haven't really been switching up my routine, and I'm coming at you with a little chatty life update!

Above are a couple of snapshots from over the weekend taking a well needed breath of fresh air at the university campus in Norwich with Adam (I'm not a student, but the grounds and lakes are beautiful and welcome to the public!). We were mostly capturing some snap shots on our film camera and taking in the changing of the seasons (don't you just love this transitional time of year where it is just about crisp enough to layer up, but the sun makes an appearance?) and as you can tell by my get up from the day I wasn't quite expecting the be in front of the camera! But this has been my general go-to over the past month - jeans and a t-shirt. I haven't taken these Topshop jeans off since I bought them [sneaking a little fave in here] and I'm completely OK with that. The jamies fit me so perfectly, so I'm glad I picked up this lighter denim with rip detailing, because they are a great transitional piece before I surgically attached myself to my black jeans in the winter months!

Elsewhere in my month, I got a new job! The main reason for a little silence of late as it was something I wanted to fully concentrate my energy on, and I'm super glad I did! I'm officially a content writer!! I can't wait to put the love and joy I experience from my blog into everyday practise and develop my writing. Exciting things around the corner!

Let me know if you like these little chatty posts, the usual monthly favourites will be back next month! (and a new post this Sunday!)

That's enough from me, how is your week?

Sunday Sharing: Camille Walala

CREDIT: www.camillewalala.com
A little Sunday post coming your way today! In the form of some bright and bold design work. Adam has recently shared the work of The Memphis Group with me, being an illustrator he often finds awesome images and stories to share with me, and I instantly became attracted to this style of work. I really enjoy the use of bright colours and geometric shapes, there is just something behind this style of work that is so energetic and fun! So, when Adam and I stumbled across this façade (see herein Shoreditch back in July, I couldn't resist taking a photo!
Funnily enough, I was reading through It's Nice That's latest 'Workwear' feature when I realised the woman in question was none other than the artist behind the mural - Camille WalalaI figured this was too good an opportunity to not share some of Camille's other work with you all! I could spend hours link hopping between her different spaces online - working across design, interiors, art direction and murals, her world is truly absorbing.

I know some of you loved the mural in my last post, so I hope you have enjoyed this little discovery as much as I have!

My Week In 5

5 minutes of your time, 5 details from my week...

IKEA
On Wednesday Adam and I headed to Lakeside to hit up IKEA! There have been a few bits we have been eyeing up online for the house and with us both having the week off work we thought we would road trip it down there. We hired a van for the journey, because our list mainly consisted of large furniture which meant I was a white van woman for the day - which went a lot smoother than I expected!
....................

OFFICE SPACE

Finally, I have a workspace! This makes me happy. On said IKEA list was a desk for Adam, which means I have inherited his beareu - which to be honest, I have been wanting since I met him, haha! - It was a charity shop buy, such an awesome find as the mid-century style is everywhere in interior design at the moment. The space is nowhere near where I want it to be, but it's a welcome starting point, so let me know if you would like a little desk tour once it is all complete and looking pinteresty. I'm super excited to get shopping for some new stationary and prints for the walls!

WEIGHTS
Last month the gym and I had a good relationship, an understanding. I would head to the office for my 9-5 and then slog myself down there for an hour after my working day, I even started to enjoy myself, but sometimes I just don't have the 'get up and go' - yano? So this week I ordered myself a 12kg set of weights to work out at home, for the days that I want to feel the burn, but to be honest, cant be arsed. I love using Carly Rowena's YouTube channel to workout at the moment, her videos are really simple to follow along to and she always puts the workout in the description box with a breakdown of weights and reps, very handy for a beginner like myself. No excuses this time!

....................

HAIRCUT
Another chop! I know some people can't stand a session at the hairdressers, but I love it. It is like a mini spa day, with the head massage, lotions and potions. Once again, I headed to Katie at The Egg Salons and she done another awesome job! She coloured my hair last month, so this appointment was just for a fresh cut. I'm still really digging shorter locks, I may possibly grow it out for winter, but for now, it is staying...
....................

SUPERNATURAL
A week off of course meant I'd be doing some binge watching. Adam and I are really into Supernatural at the moment and we're currently riding out season 5. If you are not familiar, Supernatural is an American television series about 2 brothers (one of which is Jared Padalecki AKA Dean from Gilmore Girls *drools*) that hunt all supernatural beings - poltergeists, demons, angels - the lot. Now, you may be thinking "Oh man, not more fantasy shit" but don't knock it until you have tried it. This week we've probably chugged down an unhealthy amount, but I'm totally OK with that.

Monthly Lifestyle Favourites: August!

Another month, another list of ol' favourites. This months delivery is a little off schedule due to a hectic week of redecorating the house amidst a rather large IKEA haul - this involved me in a van driving to Lakeside, an experience! -  but we're here now! So, without further ado...

TOPSHOP JERSEY POCKET TEE
As you may know, basic t-shirts are usually a part of my daily uniform. They are super easy to style, whilst still looking put together. So, I've restocked on a couple of colours this month from my usual pick up point - Topshop - and the new season cuts they have brought out are super flattering! The sleeve length is slightly longer, which I really enjoy, and the pocket detail takes it a step further from being a plain tee. I've already purchased navy and grey, but white might have to happen...

&OTHER STORIES BRACELET
When it comes to jewellery, I'm usually known for being the girl with a lot of rings - not quite Phoebe Buffay, but close - but when I was browsing in an &OtherStories at the beginning of the month I spotted this bracelet and was just like "YES". It is enough of a statement worn on it's own, even though it is dainty in size, but also looks a dream when paired with my Cluse watch[I couldn't find the bracelet online to link up, sorry ladies!]

THE FIRST BAD MAN - MIRANDA JULY
I LOVE a good book to get stuck into, especially as winter draws in (Sorry!) and you can curl up on the sofa- Mmmm. Anyway, I've been through the usual blogger favourites like my girl Lena and Leandra Medine and last month Miranda July hit my radar in Estée's monthly favourites. After her boyfriend, Aslan bought and read the book in less than two days stating it was going in his top 10 favourite books of all time, I knew I had to pick up a copy! I don't want to give anything away, besides the fact it is very hard to explain to anyone who hasn't already read it. But I guess in it's most basic form it could be considered an unorthodox [love?] story from the POV of a ever so slightly unsettled woman. The antagonists inner monologue; honest, strange and human - bound. It is certainly a page turner!

REVLON - LOVERS CORAL
A new lip favourite this month from Revlon because I got sucked into boots and their 2 for £10 offers. I'm a huge fan of the Revlon lip ranges, especially their lip butter in 'Berry Smoothie', but this time I picked up a superlustrious lipstick in the shade 'Lovers Coral'. Looking at the bullet, the colour is quite orange in tone, but once applied looks much more pinky peach - perfect for an everyday lip when I want to branch out from the 'my lips but better' nudes. The application is sheer, but super buildable to get a great colour pay off.

NOW, WHAT WERE YOUR FAVOURITES FROM AUGUST?...
